Norway on the map - again?!

And it's not even December 10th!*

Merujo told me Norway's the "Place of the Week" at National Geographic.

And Washington DC's celebrating Norwegian Christmas for the 10th time. And my Canadian friend R suddenly told me they eat lutefisk at Christmas. (No, they're not Norwegian Canadians..)

Is the world going Norwegian on me??

Hmmm..I just listened to Norwegian Wood by the Beatles and last night ate cod from Norway (but that's definitely not new)...

Apparently lutefisk is a big thing among immigrant communities in Minnesota, too. How does it taste...cause it sounds horrible! I'm sure they have it here too, but I can't get the boyfriend to admit to it.

The town where I grew up has a large Norwegian- and Swedish-American population, and you cannot avoid lutefisk at the holidays. It used to be that my friends' parents would tell me that I didn't have to eat it, since I was the "Irish kid", but a couple of years ago, I discovered that, as an adult, I no longer got a pass. So I put some lutefisk on my plate. And there it stays, all evening. :-)
